Hi all! I recently came across this article on Backstage -- "How to Find our Type as an Actor" -- and found it super helpful! https://www.backstage.com/backstage-guides/how-find-your-type-actor/ I'm curious myself what "type" you all would categorize yourself as (what kind of roles you're going out for and/or find your…

Hi all - need some recommendations for editors or companies (not necessarily create/produce scenes) to edit and assemble my footage for my first demo reel. Would like someone/a company who knows how to best edit & showcase the material not just put it together for togetherness sake, if that makes...

Hey, can anyone recommend where to find good and worthy showcases in LA. Thanks

Wanted to start up a quick discussion that I think everyone could benefit from. We all know that expanding your network is very beneficial for actors. Getting to know other actors, CDs, coaches, and other industry professionals can lead you to or open doors for your career. That said, where...

I have always been interested in acting, do I have the talent for it, idk. I don't have to be the lead in a role, a background part would be fine , with just a line or two. How to get started?

I have created many blogs that will help both actors, photographers, commercial models and others in the industry. Let me know if this is a good place to share my blogs.I have been a full-time actor for over 30 years and have been cast more than 1,200 times.

I know about voices.com and voice123. Other recommendations? There seem to be as many different 'top voiceover sites' lists as there are actual sites! Thanks in advance.

Seems like some good $ to be had from this plus I need to expand my opportunities. Where to start? Which training institutions/courses would you recommend? Any relatively cheap that lead to the same qualification (incuding perception by others of qualification)? What’s the training timeline like? I’ll obviously do my..…

Moved to NYC a few months ago and am trying to get my act together to go out for background and commercial auditions. I need professional headshots and have no idea where to start! It's a big investment and I want to make sure I'm getting my money's worth. How...

Hi guys! Seeing as we're all actors, I'm curious to hear what other people have learned through the inevitable hits and misses in the audition room. What are some practices that are utterly off-limits in the audition room? Do you shake everyone's hand upon entry? Can you start over if...

Hi. I have a South African English accent and live in LA. To those that have not heard this accent, it sounds like a mixture of British and Australian accents. Do casting directors want you to audition in your own native accent or audition with your best-effort American accent? Input...

So I just signed up, and now I can have a resume as part of my profile. Only thing is, I'm just starting to try acting more professionally, I have no legitimate acting credentials besides all the high school/summer shows I did (I'm a college freshman). What do I do?...

Hi everyone, I only start my acting career and I had a commercial shoot last weekend. Could I add this work to my credit or I need to wait when it will be ready? Thank you.
Stage 32 · 3 Oct 2017
Hello, Could you please give me your thoughts and advice on what you think my casting is based on first impressions. What sort of parts I could play, age range, style etc. I want to know more about my casting so I know I'm going into the right audition rooms. Thanks! x

Is it possible to actually make a living doing extra work? Are there people who are able to do this full-time and make it work? I enjoy extra work and being around the filmmakers and sets, but have only done it sporadically.

Looking for an older woman or gentleman for voice parts in episodes of my podcast that is based on the paranormal and unexplained. I've previously contacted Backstage directly asking about Canadian casting notices, but didn't have much luck there. I might be relocating up across the border soon, and was wondering where I could find legitimate casting notices for work up there? Doing general searches on search engines hasn't given me much luck....

Can anyone recommend an affordable acting class or teacher in NYC?

We need to make a site where we upload our acting profiles for free totally free site but it's more for agents to be able to find you and cast you or send you audition's to make it to the top make there a way to find that door we all want to open

Forgive my naivety, I'm new to all of this... But when a role says it "pays $68/8 hours" does that mean you work for 8 hours and get paid $68.00? That's what it sounds like.

File this under “shameless plug” perhaps, but here at OC Actors we are seeing a trend in the submissions we’ve received for a movie we are producing. The trend is poorly lit, awful-sounding and over-crowded submission reels. Holy cow! Some of them are dreadful. The good news is that they...

I was wondering if there was anyone around who had any experience living in another country as an actor moved to the states to pursue it full time. I wanted to know the steps you took to get your entertainers visa and how long were you working in your home country before you moved.

Any recommendations for the Austin area for acting classes and workshops? I'm ultimately wanting somewhere that can confirm whether I have what it takes or not. If I have potential I want someone to be able to tell me what I need to improve on.

If you had told me about 7 years ago that I would love to act, I'd laugh at you. I'd done a couple of plays when I was younger (ensemble roles, nothing major) and figured that the writing side was more my thing. But then, I got the opportunity to audition for a web series. While the project fell through, I still spent…

Saw this on Reddit and thought it would be cool to ask here too. What skills do you currently have listed on your acting resume? I have: Basic Improv, Basic Guitar, Singing (Baritone), Dancing (Hip Hop/Urban), and Martial Arts (Muay Thai). What do you have, forum folks?

For anyone needing some Thursday motivation during this heat wave: https://www.instagram.com/p/BBCS7PoDHMX/ It's so sweet when famous actors still get excited about table reads and talk about how much they love their job.
